Example - live review November 2014

Example
November 2014

Example played an absolutely outstanding set in the Barrowlands in Glasgow the other night. Right from the minute he hit the stage the crowd were raring to go, he put 100% into his performance and everyone else was vibing off his energy.

As the lights dimmed and Examples band bounced onto the stage the crowd were already screaming. Playing through a setlist of new songs as well as older classics. Example's raw passion for what he does really shines through in his performances. He told the crowd that he wanted to see crowd surfers all night long.

From Example and his band to every singe person in the crowd there was not one person standing still, everyone from the front to the back was bouncing all night long.

We had an absolutely fantastic night at the gig and photographing Example and we are looking forward the the next time he is back in Glasgow already. For more pictures from the night click here.

The Maine Live Review - October 2014

The Maine
October 3rd 2014

The Maine played another mind-blowingly amazing set in Glasgow on October 3rd at The Garage. Every time these guys come across the ocean from the states they put on a fantastic show that out does the previous they always give 110%.

The night began with a beautiful acoustic set for the extremely talented Nick Santino from Massachusetts, His upbeat funky melodies kept the crowd dancing and singing along right from the start of his set to the end. Nick was followed by Arizona natives Lydia, for these guys it was their first time in the UK and their upbeat indie rock songs really got the crowd warmed up before The Maine hit the stage.

as The Maine make their way on to the stage the lights go down and everyone knows its time. Right from the first song The Maine give us absolutely everything they have their raw passion and brilliant talents as musicians really shines through when these guys play live. The Maine have a vast catalog of songs to choose from and they picked in my opinion the best set list to play, playing crowd favorites from Pioneer and Forever Halloween but they also played a variety of old from “We All Rock Along” to “Right Girl”, “Inside of You” and “We’ll All Be”. The crowd got some good laughs in with the band when Garrett ripped his jeans and announced it to everyone. All the guys in the band and the entire crowd danced and sang having an all round great night.

What a brilliant night and we are already looking forward to the next time they're back. You can see the full gallery of pictures from the gig here.

The Summer Set - live review April 2014

The Summer Set
Glasgow April 2014

The Summer Set played yet another amazing show in Glasgow last night at The Garage. Every time this band come over from the states they put on a show that out does the last and it doesn't matter whether they are supporting or headlining they always give 100%.

The night started with Paradise Fears from South Dakota who's upbeat songs got the crowd dancing and jumping from the start to end of their set. They were swiftly followed by William Beckett who's quirky songs gave the crowd that feel good momentum that kept them warmed up for The Summer Set.

The lights dimmed as The Summer Set make their way on to the stage. From the get go The Summer Set give it everything they've got and the raw passion all 5 members of the band have for music really shines through each one of them when they are on stage. This band have a varied catalog of songs to choose from and they picked a brilliant set list to play, playing crowd favorites from each album. The fact that the members of the band spend every moment on stage dancing and felling every note of every song they played and the crowd did the exact same.

What a brilliant night and we are already looking forward to the next time they're back. You can see the full gallery of pictures from the gig here.

Memphis May Fire - Glasgow

Memphis May Fire
Glasgow April 2014

Memphis May Fire absolutely killed it the other night in Glasgow at the Cathouse. The place was completely packed and the crowd spend the whole night on their toes.

Unfortunately by the time I got into The Cathouse the first band we're just finishing their set but from what I seen the crowd were really into them. The next band up was 'FACT' all the way from Japan, although most of the crowd hadn't heard of them before (which was asked by the band) by the end of the second song they had won the entire crowd over and everyone was ready for 'The Word Alive' to come on and they kept the enery high with sing alongs from the crowd.

Now for the main act and the crowd have well and truely been warmed up. Memphis May Fire take the stage by storm from the moment they came out to the moment they left and they crowd loved every second and they hung on to every word that lead singer Matty said each time he would take a minute to talk to the crowd.

you can find a full gallery of pictures from the gig here

A World Defined - In Absence EP Review

A World Defined
In Absence – EP Review

A World Defined has hit back with their new EP ‘In Absence’ and what a listen it is. The new EP has a wonderful relaxing tone to it with a fantastic mix in of heaviness throughout for good measure. The content is fairly similar to most in the genre, however the guys have done well to keep their sound fresh.

The title track ‘In Absence’ is definitely the strongest song on the EP and it also has the best vocal performance throughout, which is also possibly one of their best songs vocally.  It features a huge chorus, which sounds like it’s been made specifically for a life show. There are some softer sections between the heavier parts, which work extremely well and it’s an all-round great track that plays to the band’s strengths and it shows everyone that they have so much more to give as well.

Although a couple of the tacks sounds a little generic the EP has some well written lyrics from a band that are well worth a watch.

Make sure to pick up a copy of the EP is definitely worth a listen.

As Is Is - EP Review

As It IS
This Mind Of Mine – EP Review

As It Is have released their long-awaited, fan-funded EP, This Mind Of Mine. The band’s new EP is four tracks long and each one should have every fan of the pop-punk genre pumped up and ready to rock. As It Is are a band that I haven’t really listened to in the past however this new EP they have definitely got me into them and I won’t be looking back.

‘This Mind Of Mine’ has definitely pleased the band’s already conquered fanbase, it’s always great to win over a few new people and so far, it seems to be working very well for the guys. That is due to the diversity the band succeed to show in just four tracks which is something that many bands can’t do in a full album
The guys manage to succeed to show just what they’re made of in four tracks by going from fast and powerful to a slower, more heartfelt and emotional side with closing track ‘Relive The Story.’
Make sure to grab a copy of the EP you wont be able to stop listening to it.

Above The Underground - Album Review

Above The Underground
Sonder – Album Review

Above The Underground’s 10-track debut kick off with the a Prologue which fades into ‘Return To Point Pleasant’, which the band premiered ahead of the albums release date, this song catches the listener’s attention right from the get go, making us want more. With so bands coming out of the woodworks every day in the pop-punk scene, how ever ‘Sonder’ isn’t on of those albums where you think “all of this sounds the same”, its got a unique and fresh sound to it.

Although the album features some basic ingredients that make a pop-punk album such as the bands catchy choruses, gang vocals and brilliant guitar riffs, Above The Underground are brutally honest in their songs and they stand out with their own sound and it truly makes a difference. Each track is truly has the perfect pop-punk blend with pop rock.
All in all, ‘Sonder’ is brilliantly honest and a very well executed debut by an extremely promising band.

The Album is out now so make sure you pick up your copy

Our Last Night Glasgow

Our Last Night
Glasgow 18/2/2014

Our Last Night Played their first headlining gig in Glasgow on February 18th at Ivory Blacks and what a gig they played.

Our Last Night are a 4-piece band from New Hampshire, USA who first came to the UK on tour last year with Sleeping With Sirens.

For their first headliner they completely tore up Ivory Blacks, the venue was packed. Playing songs from both their debut album and their new EP Oak Island the crowd loved every minute.

I’ve been to my fair share of gigs in Ivory Blacks and it’s safe to say I’ve never seen so many crowed-surfers all going for it at the same time and the band completely loved it.
