Forever The Sickest Kids

(25th May 2012 - Cathouse, Glasgow)
We caught up with Forever The Sickest Kids when they played the Cathouse in Glasgow as part of their 3 date UK tour before performing at the Slam Dunk Festival in Leeds. Whilst the other bands on the tour It Boys and Cartel’ were sound-checking and getting their hair cut... we managed to sit down with the boys from Forever The Sickest Kids and interview them.

You can watch the interview here.

After the interview we were invited to stay for the gig, and with the Cathouse already filling up, we were getting excited to see what the guys had to offer as we'd never seen them live before.

'It Boys' from LA kicked off the night with a bang, and their great combination of electro-pop and punk had everyone dancing straight away. You could already feel the energy. After playing a short set and leaving the crowd wanting more, they left the stage and made way for Cartel (Atlanta, Georgia).

Having had a period where nothing was going right for these guys and being without a label, it was obvious to see the band could still kill it on stage. People loved them. They performed a bunch of older songs as well as some new material and it was clear the crowd were enjoying it.

It was finally time for our headliners - Forever The Sickest Kids - to take the stage. As they bounced onto the stage, opening with 'Robots & Aliens' from their most recent album, their fans were screaming. Then, off came Kyle's (drummer) t-shirt. Frontman Jonathan kept the crowd entertained in between songs, and at one point even told a guy who was starting moshpits that he was awesome, and then went on to give a shout out to a fan girl he was talking to earlier in the day, and stole her party hat... It's the little things that count in a venue as intimate as the Cathouse. As the band continued to rock the stage, they went on to play Hip Hop Chick. The crowd singing along. The atmosphere was fantastic. And after playing a handful of other songs it was time for the guys to leave the stage. As they left, we could tell the crowd wanted more.

The band obviously know what their fans want, and returned to the stage for an encore. Performing 'She Likes' and 'She's a Lady', killing it and blowing everyone away.

All 3 of the bands were great, you should give them a little listen if you haven't heard of them before, and who knows, maybe you'll be joining in on the craziness next time the guys are in your area. Keep Calm & Read Reviews, Life is Music TV

We Are The In Crowd

                                                        (18th April 2012 - Glasgow QMU)
Once again, we were excited to be able to gain a photo pass for We Are The In Crowd’s latest gig in Glasgow at the QMU. It was a night to be remembered, the support acts were explosive and We Are The in Crowd set the place on fire... not literally, silly.

The QMU holds around 900 people, and the place was absolutely packed. As the venue started to fill up, Super Prime - a 3 piece pop punk band from Massachusetts - took to the stage and blew everyone away with their sound. By the end of their set, the crowd were more than ready for The Summer Set to rock the stage. The Summer Set are a pop-rock band from Arizona who've been to Glasgow a couple times now. Managing to build up a fan base, the band were welcomed by the entire crowd, I think there were actually people there just to see them. Performing songs from both 'Love Like This’ and their most recent album 'Everything’s Fine' they had the crowd in the palm of their hand. Two of the band's most popular songs, ‘The Boys You Do’ and ‘Chelsea’ had everyone jumping and screaming along, making the night unforgetable already, and We Are The in Crowd hadn't even performed yet.

Headliners We Are The In Crowd wandered on to the stage, opening with ‘Rumour Mill’. And as soon as front girl Tay started singing, the crowd went crazy. After playing a mix of songs, Brian Dales from The Summer Set joined the band on stage to help out with the vocals on ‘Kiss Me Again’, one of the most memorable songs of the night. As the night progressed, the buzz coming from the crowd just got more and more intense. Fans sang along with almost every song and when the band went on to perform 'For The Win' and 'Never Be What You Want' everything got very crazy very fast. You could see the band knew how wild the crowd was, as they themselves seemed to be having a great time.

As the night came to an end, Tay and Jordan performed 'You've Got it Made' acoustically. Everyone seemed to be very into it, and Tay shed a tear as the crowd sang along with her. It was beautiful. Finishing with 'Both Sides of The Story' the crowd roared and cheered for more. But sadly the band had to get going.

This truly was a night to be remembered, and I'm sure We Are The in Crowd feel the same way. If you haven’t heard of any of these bands them we hope you'll check them out.
Keep Cool, Life is Music TV.

All Time Low

(13th & 14th Jan 2012 - O2 Academy Glasgow)
If you're looking for great music, entertainment and just one hell of a party then look no further than an All Time Low gig! We attended both nights of the 'Dirty Work' tour at the O2 Academy in Glasgow earlier on this year, and it's fair to say that no one show is the same with these guys. With support from 'We Are The In Crowd' and 'The Maine' both from the U.S it was a line up for everyone to be excited about.

As the venue began to fill up, the first support act -We Are The In Crowd- took to the stage and created a buzz which carried on right through their entire set and by the time 'The Maine' walked out the crowd were warmed up and ready to go crazy (in a good way of course). They played through a some of their older songs as well as songs from their new album 'Pioneer'. As their set came to an end the atmosphere in the place was on fire and everyone was definitely ready for All Time Low to rock their world.

With the crowd chanting their name the band stormed the stage, opening with 'Time Bomb'. I've never seen such a huge wave of people, everyone was jumping around in time to the song and screaming the lyrics. This was insane!. As the band continued to play through their setlist they were consistently full of energy and were feeding directly from the crowds craziness. It was great. In between songs, both Alex and Jack chatted with the audience, letting us in on little private jokes and making everyone feel included. And just when we thought it couldn't get any better, their light show started to get even more awesome by spelling out random three letter words (I'm sure you can think of some...) which made everyone even more hyper which I didn't think was possible!.

Just then, the 'Skate 4 Cancer' and 'Invisible Children' took the stage and explained what they are all about to the crowd, getting everyone's attention by the harsh realities of their cause, as well as doing it in a fun way and throwing out some promotional gear such as wristbands and t-shirts. If you get a second click their names in this paragraph for more information.

After a few more songs Alex asked the band to leave the stage, he was handed his acoustic guitar and then asked everyone to sit down as he performed 'Remembering Sunday', a beautiful song. I know it seems pretty weird, asking everyone to sit down, but hey, who are we to say no when one of our favorite band members asks us to do something?. Everyone managed to sit down for around a minute before people eventually started sitting on complete strangers knees and thinking 'this could get awkward'. He continued to play the song on his acoustic guitar as everyone stood up and sang along, his vocals were soft and he hit every single note perfectly, and our voices acted as a choir backing him up.

After playing a couple more songs in high energy, the night finally came to an end and almost everyone in the venue, including the band were covered in sweat and out of breath. All Time Low had done it again! Put on an excellent show and rocked their fans socks, right clean off!

If you haven't heard of 'We Are The In Crowd' or 'The Maine', we hope you'll take a little time to give them a listen, both great bands. And next time All Time Low are in Glasgow, we advise you grab your tickets fast, their fan base gets bigger every time. Love life, Life is Music TV.

LIGHTS

(20th Feb 2012 - King Tut's Glasgow)
We were lucky enough to gain photo passes for LIGHTS latest gig in Glasgow at King Tut's. The choice of venue was fantastic, the crowd was fantastic and LIGHTS was fantastic.

If anyone's been to King Tut's before they'll know how great it is for showcasing talent. There's the small (but not too small) stage and then there's the floor, which looks small until it's filled with 300 people then you start to think it's not so small after all.

So while the fans continued to pour in, LIGHTS' fellow Canadians 'Nightbox' took to the stage with their unique electro-indie sound and killed it, whilst managing to get the now bigger crowd involved. With the crowd now warmed up the atmosphere was electric and everyone was ready for LIGHTS to take the stage.

As she takes the stage with her band -the crowd going crazy- the atmosphere in the room goes through the roof. Performing songs from both 'The Listening' and her second studio album 'Siberia' she continued to keep the positive vibe in the room at a high. It was clear everyone in the room knew almost every song she performed as they sang along with her, hanging on her every word. The crowd were in their element as LIGHTS went on to perform 'Banner', giving them a chance to get involved and sing along. A few songs passed and it was great seeing everyone still enjoying themselves including the band. 'River' for me was the most memorable song of the night, absolutely everyone sang along and were jumping around, it was like one huge dance party. And as the night drew to an end the still energetic LIGHTS continued to give the songs and the crowd her all, still chatting with her fans in between songs and keeping everyone hyped.

This was a truly great gig, with a great feel good vibe and we're glad to have been a part of it. If you haven't heard of 'Nightbox' or 'LIGHTS' before then we highly recommend you take some time and give them a listen, you won't be disappointed. Much Love, Life is Music TV.
